I am not sure I would score significantly better in an eye test now, yet the changes for me have been dramatic, not subtle.  How can this be?  I will do the best I can to explain but I suspect that unless one experiences something like this onesel it is hard to understand.  It is for me more of a mental phenomenon and is to do with the quality of the visual perception.  The visual detail that I can now perceive is huge compared to before.  For example, before I could look at a brick built building and quite clearly see the brick built building – what more was there to see?  Wow I would never have guessed.  Now I look at that same brick built building and can more or less see every individual brick, each with a different texture and colour, I can also better “see” the architecture of the building!  Sometimes I will go for a walk simply to experience and enjoy this, the colours are more vibrant, the textures are richer, the three dimensional aspect is more real. etc, etc.  I had no idea that the world could look so beautiful.  Also, now my eyes do not seem to get tired in the same way.  I can work on a computer screen for 8 hours and all is good – whereas before things would start getting blurry and difficult after a few hours.
This changed during a six month trial I did of 30,000 IU of Vitamin D per day. (Changes after about 8 weeks)  And interesting that I was not coming from a “deficient” baseline.  For many years I have appreciated the benefit of good levels of blood serum D and have kept my level towards the top of the “acceptable” range.  I measure most things that I can so it is a bit unusual that I did not have measurements of my serum D levels during the trial.  Truth be told I am not sure it is relevant once one goes significantly outside the :”recognised” range, and it seemed the kind thing to do for my doctor not to have it tested – very few people understand – she may have panicked had she seen the results.  I did however have my serum calcium and Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) checked during the trial.  Serum calcium was fine and PTH did not change at all.  (To my understanding the fact that the PTH had not changed at all indicated that I still had a large buffer before the blood calcium could be influenced and in fact I was being conservative with my dose of Vit D.  But I am a conservative kind of a guy.)  I got my K2 from some supplements but mainly from eating Natto, as always I have a good Magnesium supplementation as well as Boron.
From a controlled experiment point  of view were there any other changes that I made during this period.  Nothing dramatic, but I did: start doing a bit more ozone therapy, getting a bit more exercise, and increased my Boron supplementation (from Borax).  Had I suspected I was going to get such dramatic changes I would have kept everything else exactly the same for the sake of the experiment.  Truth be told, I was a bit complacent as I was starting from a reasonable base and there apparently wasn’t anything wrong that needed fixing, so I did not expect any results – little did I know!!   The little changes I made during the trial I have all done before at some point or another and I did not notice any effect with my vision then – so I really do believe it was the Vitamin D!  Or perhaps a synergy of various key factors including the Vitamin D.  I have now gone to a maintenance dose of 10,000 IU per day and one thing I am testing is, at this level, does my visual perception revert?  So far it has not and it has now been more than one month since I stopped the 30,000 IU per day.  (Purely speculative but I can’t help wondering if there was some Glaucoma or Macular Degeneration that had started and is now healed!  My body 59 years old)
The one fact I know for sure, 100%, is that something significant changed for the better and it was while I was taking large dose Vitamin D supplement.  A coincidence? Methinks not!
Best Regards
