I just finished reading the Jeff Bowles book, “Vitamin D3 Miracle” and I loved it! It is fascinating, compelling and has given me so much to think about. I have been searching for answers to my health issues for more than a decade. I have tried probably, the majority of the supplements that exist. I have had the majority of the symptoms of hypothyroidism and vitamin B12 deficiency for a long time. Last year I stumbled upon an article about vitamin B12 deficiency and it rang true to what I was going through. I have been to the doctor several times and they are never very helpful. Despite my symptoms of feeling cold all the time, deformed fingernails, severe fatigue, shortness of breath, weakness, just to name a few, they usually tell me I’m just depressed (really? And that is causing deformed fingernails???) and want to prescribe antidepressants. It’s been extremely frustrating. So I chose to try vitamin B12 and it’s cofactors of folate, on my own even trying daily injections of hydroxy B12. for about 8 months. I did see improvement and my eye sight which tends to fluctuate daily, had improved by almost a whole point, per my yearly prescription. My dizziness also got better…but I still struggled with fatigue and feeling cold so I broke down and went to the doctor again, cringing this time as I was fearful I was going to get the depression talk. A woman who was a physician’s assistant did the basic blood panel on me and told me everything came back fine. I, in the meantime was doing my own searching and came across some articles on vitamin d deficiency symptoms, that had a lot of the same symptoms. I asked the PA if she would test my vitamin D and she refused. She said everyone in our area is typically low and that I should just take 2,000 IU of D3 a day. So I began doing that, but I upped it to 5,000 IU a day and 4 weeks later I paid to have my own vit d test done at a health fair. I joined several vitamin D groups that I could find on Facebook and began doing as much reading as I could in my spare time. My test came back at 30ng and that was after I had already been taking 4-5,000IU a day. I increased my D3 to 10,000IU/day and felt better. I began having deep naps with vivid dreams and I felt relaxed about life (despite the tons of stress I have going on right now). I bought Jeff’s book and I carefully read it and cautiously began increasing my vitamin D dose. For the past week I have taken 20,000 and the past two days 30,000 IU/ day. I feel pretty good! I am having some issues getting the vitamin k2, magnesium and multivitamin figured out, but I feel greatly encouraged and I have started Pubmed searches as Jeff suggested in his book. I have found so far, links to vitamin d deficiency to 2 issues that I have had to deal with throughout my life – scoliosis and gallbladder malfunction. I plan to keep searching and keep experimenting with restoring the vitamin D to my system. One thing I really would like to heal, besides the debilitating fatigue, is the pain in my left arm that I have from giving myself a B12 injection, in my arm/shoulder area and most likely I hit a nerve and caused some damage. This was at the end of last November 2017. I have tried physical therapy, and it has gotten better, but only by tiny amounts and being in pain every single day does wear on a person. I know that nerves are very slow healing cells and sometimes they do not heal at all, but I remain hopeful that it will get better. The benefits I’ve noticed so far with the vitamin d supplementation is in my mood – I often feel awesome, my libido has increased a lot, I have warmed up and no longer feel as cold and I do feel less tired, though I have figured out that my energy level is more stable if I spread the vitamin D out over the course of the day into at least 3 doses. So currently I’m at 10,000 IU in the morning when I wake up, then 10,000IU at 11:00 am and 10,000IU at 3:00pm. I’m taking Triple K by Bronson vitamins @ 3 per day and 200 mg Mag Glycinate at bedtime and 250 mg Mag Malate in powder form in my coffee in the morning. I’m so excited to have started on this vitamin D journey! Thank you Jeff Bowles for writing your book and sharing your experience!!
